Fort George near Ardersier in the Scottish highlands is a pleasant tourist attraction yet still an active military base. Quite a cool place to visit, with a long walk around it’s walls and great views of the Moray Firth.
There are nice cafes and an interesting museum to the Highlanders Regiment. I’d not seen a Victoria Cross in real life before. It is the highest decoration for the British and Commonwealth military. The medal room at the museum was very impressive and I think I counted seven or eight of them.
