Buildings that contain books should reflect the wonders, magnificence and beauty contained within their volumes, shouldn’t they? At least this was how it was when books ruled. Now they are glass and concrete affairs where power points, Wi-Fi and coffee seem to be the order of the day.

  1. I could not agree more. There is a beautiful little library in Gainsborough about 14 miles away from my own town. I used to love gling there. Full of history too. But the library in my own town I run from like the plague, JUST SOUL,ESS AND HORRID,

    1. My love of libraries goes back to the first one I joined as a child. A grand old Victorian affair in Leeds. It was wonderful, it closed and was replaced by a brick shed! The original library stood empty for about 25yrs and it’s now a gym, real shame.
