The Dipper

I knew a dipper
Lived hereabouts
I sat and waited
For a long time
My only company
The breeze
The silence
The tumbling stream
At last she came
Sat on a rock
I think if she could talk
She’d have said hello
I’m off now till you’ve gone
And then she left
The cold shoulder
Oh well
